Caryn Cline's Criteria for Contracts

I am often asked to sponsor individual contracts.  I want to let you know what my criteria are so that you can decide whether you meet them before you approach me with a request.

If you are looking for a contract at the last minute, I won't be able to sponsor you.  Good luck!

1.  Subjects.  I sponsor media contracts, primarily, although I am open to tangential subjects.  My strengths are in film history, film criticism and theory, media literacy, mass media, feminist film theory and beginning media production.

2.  Plan in advance.  I am usually booked well in advance of the quarter.

3.  Be well-prepared with your proposal.  I am willing to schedule time to talk to you about your contract, to help you shape it, but I never commit to a contract until I see the goals clearly stated in writing.

I am not attracted to half-baked or passionless ideas.

4.  If I haven't worked with you before, submit an evaluation and/or portfolio work along with your proposal.

5.  I am interested in sponsoring media production internships, especially if they take place in Seattle.  However, the above criteria still apply.
