LIVING IN THE MEDIUM

OPENING 1:44 minute excerpt

WORK-IN-PROGRESS
Living in the Medium
is a film about time and consciousness. The title comes from J.G. Bennett’s book, Creative Thinking.  This concept is the first condition for creativity:  we cannot create spontaneous work without being in real contact with some medium.   Second, our work must reflect the “process of thinking.”  I have privately called this film “a metaphysical travelogue.” It has been shot in Olympia and Tenino. Washington, Nevada, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Borrego Springs, Taos, New Mexico, and Turkey (so far). It also represents my continued experimentation with nonfiction forms, extending my work into the relatively new area of sensory ethnography.
