The Society Islands homepage is part of the Evergreen Islands program, a year-long, interdisciplinary, team-taught academic program. Students and faculty are full time in the program. Fall quarter (see syllabus at links from the program home page) we studied visual analysis, literature, cultural studies, visual arts, research skills, visual anthropology, and island biodiversity as we studied island-ness and islomania. We heard from island scholars, and island residents. We compared ourselves to Robinson Crusoe.
We are arranged in GeoGroups of 3-5 folks going to the same part of the world. You can find the groups in links from the Islands homepage.
Our GeoGroup, the Society Islands, will travel to Huahine in French Polynesia. We are Sally Cloninger and Jin Darney, faculty in the Islands program. We will have several visitors during our stay--check the links for who and when.
