Course Description
This is a
beginning level course in Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin) for students with
none or little prior experience in the language. Reading and writing the
traditional characters will be introduced and practiced from the very beginning
of the program. More emphasis will be given to the training of standard
pronunciation, listening comprehension, grammar and conversational vocabulary
usage. Chinese history and culture will also be introduced as it relates to
each language lesson.

Objectives
There will be
30 contact hours for Chinese Language and Culture. We will cover the Introduction
and the lessons in Integrated Chinese. The goal of this program is to help students acquire
basic Chinese communicative skills and to introduce students to Chinese
Culture. A broad spectrum of life in Chinese societies will be introduced as we
proceed with each lesson in the book. Cultural notes and media programs
regarding Chinese traditions and customs will also be incorporated. Please
