Margaret I. Hunt, Emeritus
Former Orissi
faculty, Meg Hunt taught dance and interdisciplinary arts studies at Evergreen
for many years before her retirement as Professor Emeritus. She studied
modern dance at The Ohio State University and obtained her Master’s Degree
in dance from Temple University, where she was also a member of Group Motion
company. She studied with Senta Driver, James Payton, Ruth Currier, and
Vera Blaine. She has performed solo contemporary dance works at Evergreen
and around the Northwest. She has studied Orissi dance in India with Guru
Ramani Ranjan Jena and in the United States with Dr. Ratna Roy, and she
has performed Orissi dance around the region. She has performed Orissi
in Fairbanks and McCarthy in Alaska and continues to perform there. Together
with her life and business partner, Ed LaChapelle, "she has started "Porphyry
Productions" to bring more performing arts to the little town in Alaska
lying at the terminus of the Kennicott Glacier." (Dance Magazine, June
