Subject: Scholarships for Study Abroad Winter and Spring 2009
Are you a student planning to study abroad Winter or Spring Quarter,
2009 through an Evergreen program, contract, internship or consortium
partner?
Are you planning to study for at least 4 weeks in your destination country?
Are you a U.S. citizen?
Does your financial aid award include the U.S. Pell Grant?
If you answered YES to all four questions, then you are eligible to
apply for a study abroad scholarship called the Benjamin A. Gilman
Award. This national program offers up to $5000 for study abroad
costs, and perhaps another $3000 in support if you are studying a
critical need language such as Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Turkic, Persian,
Korean, Chinese and others.
There will be over 450 scholarships awarded nationally this year and
there is no limit on the number of Evergreen students who might receive
one. In the past, as many as 15 Evergreen students have received awards
totaling over $65,000 in a single academic year.
Please visit www.iie.org/gilman <http://www.iie.org/gilman>

International Programs and Services, to better understand the
application process and learn of certain administrative
