(4)Buy international air RT ticket to Lima, Peru; email itinerary to Raul and place a hard copy in your FOLDER.
(departure date: first week Summer 2009; returning dates: five or more weeks later)
Please get more information also from the Study Abroad Academic Advising Office.

HAND your FOLDER containing documents (1), (2), (3) and (4) in to Pam Udovich in Lab I First floor. (4)if you have not purchased your ticket, write and file an approx. itinerary and Email it to Raul also. Itineraries will be posted in our  web site. By week 1

Deposit for 5 week room and board $550.00 (make your payment directly in Peru)
Do not carry cash with you. There are ATM machines in most places, contact your bank before departing. You can make your payment directly in Peru.
1st day to deposit will be upon arrivalin Guadalupe


Make 2 photocopies of your passport, one for your own use and a copy to keep in the group's folder in Peru.
Hand in one copy to Raul in Peru. THE BEST and easy way to register in the Lima US Embassy is online, the site is at:
https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/
Everyone will register  online before departure from US.

Peruvian currency is nuevo sol. Please change $50-100 to soles at the Lima airport bank.
Rate is an average of 3.00 soles to 1 USD.
Be careful with counterfit dollar or soles bills.
In Peru ALWAYS change money in authorized money exchange offices or Casa de Cambio.
IN PERU

Arriving in Lima. Have your passport and customs form at hand. It will take about an hour before getting out of the airport. (if you have asked for assistance in Lima, look* for sign "TESCyour name" and approach our contact).
Our* contact will pick you up at the Lima airport, take you home. Return to airport and put you in your next plane to Chiclayo. There is a 6 dollar airport tax to pay.
If you buy your own LAN 4 am ticket in the US, don't leave the airport, just go to the national area and wait there to check in at about 2 am.

From Chiclayo take a 40 minute bus/taxi ride to Guadalupe.
Our* Contact will pick you up at the Chiclayo Airport and take you to Guadalupe.
Morning after arrival

In Guadalupe
You need for local transportation approx. $100.00
To pay for bus/taxi Chiclayo-Guadalupe; Guadalupe-Trujillo; rent vans to travel around Guadalupe/Cajamarca.

Students will arrive in Guadalupe. Then each one will choose to travel to Cajamarca or stay in Guadalupe or La Barranca (beach village 10 mi. west only in winter).  Participants organize turns to avoid having the whole group stay in one place at once.

To return from Guadalupe to the Lima airport to take your return flight to the US you need approx.  160 dollars.

Bus/taxi from Guadalupe to Chiclayo; fly from Chiclayo to Lima (approx. $20 + $110)
There is an airport tax to pay, national is about 6 and international is 33 dollars.
By week 4 you will be able to arrange these. Let Raul Know if you need assistance.
