racial identity

The red arrow in the next picture points at the person who would become the man with the toads, the fisherman - huntsman who gave me storytelling and the sense of right and wrong.

day of presence

This is a photo of a classroom in an American school in Japan during the reconstruction period. The red arrow points at my mom or my aunt (identical twins). She talks about how her father wanted her to go to a Japanese school so she could learn Japanese, but her mother was against it. On the wall behind her is student generated Japanese style art and almost no books. She learned Japanese on the street after school.
