Cape Tribulation

I headed up to Cape Tribulation on 2 occasions... the first on our way to the canopy crane, and the second after the conference with Peter and Catherine for a revisit. We had a rental car and so I got to experience driving on the 'wrong' side of the road... it wasn't even so bad, although not everyone agreed! There was lots of cool vegetation to be seen - including the strangling fig seen below, mangroves, cool insect life, etc. I highly recommend a trip, and definitely stop by the Crocodylus Lodge/Hostel - the scrub turkeys are sure to be a good alarm clock! Unfortunatley I never saw a Cassowary - although there were signs warning of them everywhere! I thought I saw one early one am hiking on a trail by myself - but alas it was just a pig (which are doing mega damage to the vegetation!) - might have been a good thing I didn't see it though, b/c they are the size of an ostrich and have razor sharp claws on their feet!
