I spent 3 days and 2 nights on a boat moored on the Reef with Pro-Dive! There was definite concern on my part about not getting seasick, but thanks to Kelly's 'sea-bands' and dramamine I fared better than some others on the boat.. which isn't to say I wasn't feeling it! We did 11 dives (incl 2 night dives), so basically our days consisted of eating and diving (with a bit of sleep). Rob, the chef, was a master and we were living large... and of course diving burns so many calories that we couldn't say no :) I was stoked to spend all my underwater time with my dive buddy, Carsten, who is studying law in Kiwi-land. He's German so of course we had to have a wager over the World Cup Action - I was rooting for USA (somebody had to!), and he was rooting for Germany (guess it was pretty certain I was losing). But with France's history, you never knew. So, we got to watch the game while out on the Barrier Reef... what more can you ask for (Okay, a USA win maybe - they lost 1-0).
There were 30 of us on the boat, and a totally entertaining and excellent group of people, including my bunkmate, Yanneke (Dutch), and Melissa, an Aussie from Sydney - who, get this- spent 6 months studying at none other than here at OSU in Corvallis... that was way way cool to chat with her about home!!! Check out the underwater page to see the action that went on under the water - including our most photographed turtle!
