Charles P. Howerton, Ph.D.
I am a visiting professor of Computer Science for the Spring 2001 quarter. My primary duties are to teach the elements of the Concepts of Computing module.
As defined for this term, Concepts of computing consists of 4 major components.
- Invitation to Computer Science:
An overview of computer science and computing that spans software, hardware, application areas, research topics, and a thorough review of the field.
- HTML and JavaScript Programming:
A laboratory based programming course that focuses on programming for the world wide web.
- Joint Seminar:
In this seminar session there will be invited speakers as well as topics addressed by the CoC team. Students will be presented with a topic by a qualified speaker, and following the talk, they will discuss the issues associated with the topic.
- Virtual Reality Seminar:
This seminar session is to be centered around the concept of virtual reality. The text is a definitive work by Howard Rheingold that explores virtually all of the aspects of Virtual Reality.
