| The best way for me to reflect on my work in Evergreen is to go back to 1990 when my family and I had to leave Peru. Our hope then was that after one year, political conditions would have improved and we could then go back home; but conditions didn't improve and we had to stay in the U.S. some more time. Two goals were set: one was to become a bilingual and bicultural family, and to build a dream before going back home and make the dream come true. The dream is to create a new rural school in Peru. Here is the story year by year on how we are achieving the first goal and how I have been working to, little by little, someday become a Freirian educator to be able to run a Freirian school in a rural area in Peru. Here is also information on where we are in the process of building of the School Without Walls. |
