Dear Friends of Guadalupe:

At the end of March I went home for two weeks. For me to spend almost one week at La Barranca beach was just like a dream. Please don't die before having this experience. The only other time I have experienced those great feelings of total freedom and infinite peace have happened to me in the high Andes when I was walking trying to get to Macchu Picchu following the Inca Trail.

The best thing that happened in this short visit was that a dream of many members of Quipunet and a dream that we all Friends of Guadalupe have had for some time now, finally came true: we opened the Primer Tambo Quipunet en el Peru in Guadalupe, an Internet service for students and teachers run by La Asociacion Juvenil Tercer Milenio. It happened on Saturday April 8th. 2000. I will send you pictures. We need to keep collecting old computers (well from 486s and up) to ship them to other parts in Peru and create more Tambos in other areas. Thank you Mike and Greg for your donations and for helping to pack them, thank you Gabriel and Marcia and Meeka for your donations. Thank you Aaron for taking the first computer to Peru, this experience gave us better ideas on how to send the rest of computers. It was sad that the only Pentium we had didn't pass customs but the other computers we packed in Martha's house did go through and now children and youth in Guadalupe are using them. Thanks to Martha Davies, to Paola Bazan and her friends from the Llampanet organization, her colleagues from the Universidad Pedro Ruiz Gallo and her friends of the Red Cientifica del Peru Lambayeque; and to Manolo Ramirez and the members of III Milenio. Now, Guadalupanos will have access to more information. We finally opened our own window to the world for our Guadalupano friends.
Our friends in Guadalupe asked me about you, como estan Yvonne y Heila?, como estan John and Judy?, como estan Meeka y Marcia?, como estan Greg y Mike?, como estan Tom y Gabriel?, como esta Richelle?, saluda a Amy, saluda a Corinne, saludos a Aaron, saludos a Eileen. You are now part of their stories. I will send other photos.

Hasta la proxima vez y cuidense mucho.

Raul
