Welcome
to Evergreen in Olympia, Washington. I am from Perú
and I
have been a member of the Evergreen faculty since 1991. I taught in the
1991-93 Master in
Teaching program and several others until 2000. I am
currently participating in the on campus Native American Studies
programs.
Almost every summer since 1994 I have sponsored Independent Learning Contracts in Peru. My students from the Reservation Based program from the Muckleshoot Nation were in Peru in the summer of 2002 and 2003 visiting the Comunidad Indigena Mariankari Bajo land of the Ashaninka Nation. In 2004-05 David, Gary and I facilitated the Patience: A Survival Process For An Unknown Future program which had a travelling component during the Winter 2005 in Peru. In 2005-06 Yvonne Peterson, David and I team taught a program entitled Reconciliation. We facilitated the 2006-07 Heritage and the 2007-08 Family program. Our 2008-09 Persistance program also took students to Peru in the winter 2009. Graduating students suggested us to offer similiar programs for several years to open up possibilities for new students to plan their entire college experience taking our programs as the core of their academic work and add part time programs to acquire specific knowledge/skills. I team taught in the the following programs: 2006-07 HERITAGE: Self-Identity and Ties to the Land, 2007-08 FAMILY: Inspiration of Significant Others and 2008-09 PERSISTENCE: A Study of Inspired Work I am a Team member in the 2009-10 SPIRITUALITY: The Eyes of the Unknown program. You will find here some of our teaching/learning experiences at Evergreen. The links will direct you to information in English and some in Spanish. All of it is non-official information. My
contract students
in
Peru do Community
Work in
rural towns like Guadalupe
in the Pacasmayo
Province. In Perú, I do
presentations, workshops or facilitate short courses
about education. At times I do this as a volunteer of the Quipunet organization. If you
are
interested in learning more about what I do, here is a "short" biography. |
