From the Rainbows to the Oregon Country Fair, this course will examine these and other unique gatherings of the Pacific Northwest.  A fairly recent phenomena, these communities celebrate religious and cultural diversity often excluded by the mainstream.  Our emphasis will be in learning the history of these fairs, the attractions displayed, the spirituality of the community and the role these fairs have in the 21st century.  The class may require an overnight field trip. Other activities include group discussions, writings and an oral presentation.

Facts About Our Class

This class will flow as follows.  We have two significant days filled with lectures and more on Thursday June 26th and Friday June 27th.  Please be sure to attend.  I will describe in detail the goals.  I have suggested a plan of action (syllabus) to arrive at these goals.

Our next meeting will be Thursday July 12th as we prepare for the OCF.
July 13th-July 15th the Oregon Country Fair.  A participation thing!

Then about halfway through the summer (Thursday July 26th & Friday July 27th) we will bring the class together to share our experiences to date.  This is a small change from the Evergreen Times so please note it.  We will have presentations from people who are leaving.

Our class will regroup again on August 17th for presentations.  This will conclude the formal meeting obligations

Arrangements are possible for attending fairs after this date.

Your eagerness to participate is assumed.
