Platocthispa sp. 1 Staines ms.

Head black, pale at base; antennae dark; pronotum ivory with wedge-shaped macula widest at base, not reaching anterior margin; elytra dark umber with transparent narrow lamina; legs ivory with dark umber markings. Head: vertex with faint medial sulcus, becoming carina before base of antennae; irregular, non-parallel sculpturing between eyes, finely wrinkled posteriorly; sulcus present on inner margin of each eye; frons projecting, smooth. Antennae: segment I subglobose, punctate; II transverse, punctate; III-IV cylindrical, III 1 1/2 times the length of IV, both sulcate; V cuspidate; VI-VII transverse; VIII pointed at apex, wide in lateral view, narrow in dorsal view. Pronotum: transverse; lateral margins straight and slightly divergent for basal three-fourths, then rounded and convergent; anterior angles rounded, tooth absent; basal impression present; medial longitudinal sulcus present on disc; densely punctate; not very convex. Scutellum: cordate; finely wrinkled. Elytra: lateral margins serrate; apical margins laminate, dentate; sutural margin emarginate; 10 rows of punctures; interval 8 costate. Venter: brownish-orange with diffuse transparent patches; pro- and metasterna punctate laterally; mesosternum alutaceous laterally; abdominal sterna micropunctate laterally. Legs: femora punctate, short. Total length: 5.0 mm.
