Lachnomyrmex are all small ants in the subfamily Myrmicinae. They have a relatively uniform habitus. They are Neotropical, most often encountered in Winkler or Berlese samples from lowland wet forest.
Rodrigo Feitosa, a student with Dr. Brandao at the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de S‹o Paulo, is currently revising the genus.
