- Soon after receiving my Ph.D. in Soil Chemistry from the University of Missouri (1979), I was asked to help establish a soil monitoring program to evaluate the effects of acid deposition in Canada. Over the years, I have had the opportunity of assisting with the development of a number of ecological monitoring programs in Canada, the United States, and several other countries. The emphasis of my work has evolved to include other aspects of ecological monitoring including program development, quality assurance, information management and reporting.
- Work:
- Current work includes:
- assisting the National Park Service with the establishment of an inventory and monitoring program for national parks in the Mojave desert,
- developing an information management system for the Resource Management Division of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and
- assisting an interagency regional monitoring team responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the Northwest Forest Plan. This plan encompasses more than 25 million acres of federal land managed by the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service in western Washington, Oregon, and northwest California.
