Steve Young has an A.B. in English from Columbia College, Columbia University, New York where he was graduated summa cum laude and elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He has attended graduate-level Federal programs at several schools. He has worked as a contracting officer for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and as an information technology specialist at EPA.
He is currently employed by EPA as Associate Director of the Environmental Analysis Division in the Office of Environmental Information. His group is working on the Environmental Indicators Program and other analytical projects. He has worked on numerous inter-agency projects related to information technology and biodiversity information management and has received numerous EPA awards. He has published in Washingtonian magazine and The Washington Post, and he co-authored a chapter on biodiversity information management that appeared in the book Biodiversity II.
Work:
Environmental indicators, environmental information analysis, biodiversity informatics, information policy, strategic planning for use of information to achieve mission results.
