Viv Hutchison works for the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII), a program supported by the US Geological Survey. She is the Program Coordinator for Biological Metadata, and a Biological Information Specialist. She oversees a national Clearinghouse of metadata records and organizes training sessions for wildlife biologists. She also manages content and architecture for several web pages at the NBII. She has been with NBII since June 2002, and her office is located in the Western Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, WA.

Viv graduated from the Claremont Colleges in 1991 with a B.A. in Political Science. In 2002, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a Master's of Library and Information Science. She concentrated her studies on digital library management and organization. In 2004, Viv completed a Certificate of Natural Resources from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
