THE MAKING OF HEROES

Capturing images of arboreal animals and plants, and the researchers who study them took an enormous amount of ingenuity, expertise, and courage. The cameramen and sound crew members spent days and nights in the canopy to get the shots you see in the film, often rigging up elaborate pulley systems and precarious platforms for their gear and themselves.

Above all, the filming took extreme patience and willingness to wait through bad weather and light conditions for just the right shot - the flight of an arboreal snake, or the astonishing leap of a graceful gibbon from branch to branch.

There is another set of "heroes" whom you see in the film only briefly- as lists of names in the final credits. They supplied behind-the-scenes help to produce, direct, edit, and communicate this film around the world.
