Slide 2.
Amanita muscaria var. formosa is the yellow form. Amanita muscaria can be red, yellow, orange, white or brown. It is characterized by white to dark creamy warts on the cap that rub off or can wash off in the rain, a white spore print, a ring on the stem and a swollen stipe base with three concentric bands of tissue - the remnants of a universal veil. When young and still totally enclosed by the universal veil, all Amanita species look much like an egg or a puffball.
