Though there are a pair of close look-alikes, Agaricus augustus is one of the few Agaricus species that is fairly easy to correctly identify. Look for the matted reddish-brown scales, a yellowish bruising reaction, and a delightful almond odor. Agaricus augustus is known as the Prince and it can be a truly majestic mushroom. It is reported in the East and can be abundant in the West in rich disturbed soil and grassy areas. The Prince is a prized edible but another one that I personally cannot eat without stomach upset.
