Agaricus subrutilescens is another choice edible Agaricus with a delightful almond odor. Some close look-alikes routinely cause gastric distress but are easily distinguished by the lack of an almond odor. Agaricus subrutilescens, the Wine-colored Agaricus, fruits in coniferous woods from British Columbia to California. While prized by most people, it can cause stomach upset in sensitive individuals.
