Laccaria laccata is one of many very similar edible Laccaria species that grow widespread in northern temperate regions. The Laccaria laccata complex is quite distinctive with its small cap compared to the stipe, broad distant gills and a stipe that resembles a grape stem. This moderately tasty and abundant edible is an often over-looked species.
