Slide 17.
Gomphus clavatus is reported to be a very choice edible species. However unlike the White and Yellow Chanterelles which rarely become wormy, Gomphus clavatus is quickly found by mushroom flies and is invariably worm-riddled. I have tried for years to find a clean collection but have not yet succeeded, so I have concluded that this beautiful species is best left for others to discover and enjoy.
