Hydnum repandum comes in both a white form and a yellow form and has a texture and flavor similar to a Chanterelle, though some collections can be a bit bitter. Hydnum repandum is a widespread species and the closest look-alike, Hydnum umbilicatum, a smaller slenderer species with a depressed center, is also choice.
