Sparassis crispa is another incredibly distinctive choice edible that can fill a bushel basket. It looks like a head of fettuchini growing at the base of a tree. Sparassis crispa is great either baked or marinated and barbecued. Like the Hericiums, it should be thoroughly cooked. Otherwise these species can be hard to digest.
