Slide 22.
Ramaria rubripermanens is my favorite coral mushroom. There are a number of species of corals with branches tipped with wine-red, but most quickly lose their color. Ramaria rubripermanens does not fade appreciably as the branches elongate. All of the purple-tipped Ramaria species can be eaten. When young and still possessing stubby branches, Ramaria rubripermanens is a delicious nutty tasting edible. In age it will be wormy and harder to clean so mature specimens should be left untouched to mature and bring enjoyment to others.
