Laetiporus conifericola is another spectacular woodland sight that you can easily identify at cruising speeds. Some people trim the tender growing margin and cook it up for dinner. Laetiporus sulphureus , the look-alike Sulfur Shelf or Chicken-of-the-Woods, can be good with sour cream. However, Laetiporus conifericola which grows conifer hosts, can have an unpleasant flavor and it can cause poisoning including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and disorientation, even hallucinations. It contains compounds known to cause central nervous system disruption.
