Boletus mirabilis is a gorgeous large choice edible bolete that grows on rotting conifer logs in the Pacific Northwest and Michigan. It is one of my 55 mile per hour mushrooms - it is so distinctive that there is no doubt as to the identity. Boletus mirabilis has an interesting sweet/sour flavor that is very distinctive.
