Chlorophyllum molybdites also photographed by Kit Scates grows in areas that have warm humid summers. Before the spores mature, Chlorophyllum molybdites looks just like a Lepiota. In age the greenish spores turn the gills from white to greenish. Chlorophyllum molybdites is common in lawns in the mid-west, Southeast, California and Hawaii. It is often grazed on by children and is frequently cooked and eaten by unsuspecting adults. Vomiting can be severe. Other symptoms include nausea, sweating, diarrhea, cramps, cold chills, and sometimes classic cholinergic symptoms characteristic of muscarine poisoning.
