What is commonly known as Morchella elata and the related complex of black morels are usually next on my dinner table. I start finding them in late March, more in April and more still in May. At higher inland elevations they may even keep appearing into July if moisture conditions are right. The morels can also be very difficult to spot, often hiding among the pine cones.
