Alpova diplophloeus, also known as Alpova cinamomeus, is commonly known as Red Gravel or as the Alder False Truffle. Alpova diplophloeus is distinctive for its association with alder. When mature the exterior is cinnamon colored and the spore mass is composed of reddish-brown gel-filled chambers separated by pallid veins. There are no reports on its edibility but I am on the look out for another collection which I intend to try.
