Slide 46.
Calvatia fumosa is a common thick-skinned spring and summer puffball most often found under conifers in the mountains. The smooth skin and golf-ball size distinguish it from most other Calvatia species but the real distinguishing feature of Calvatia fumosa is the odor you notice in the car after the mushroom warms up. If you think someone next to you has committed a social indiscretion, look to your sack of pit toilet Calvatia fumosa. Orson miller reports that it is bitter tasting. I haven't been tempted to try it myself.
