Slide 51.
Ramaria rubripermanens is one of many Ramaria species with branch tips that are pale to distinctly wine-red when young. Ramaria rubripermanens is distinguished by retaining the wine-red coloration as the branches elongate. It fruits in the Cascades and Rocky Mountains. I have not often seen it when young and in prime edible condition. This specimen was huge and made a delightful nutty tasting meal.
