Clavicorona pyxidata, the Crown Coral, is distinguished
by growing on wood and having crownlike branch tips. It is widely distributed
and grows on dead hardwoods, especially aspen, willow and cottonwood. This
pretty little mushroom is too small, tough and stringy to be of interest
come dinner time, though Clavicorona pyxidata is edible if
you just have to try it.
