A white version of an unnamed spring Amanita is illustrated here. It looks very much like Amanita muscaria var. alba . This spring Amanita is believed to be a different species from Amanita muscaria for which it is easily mistaken. True A. muscaria would have a slightly different volva consisting of three rings of tissue around the base of the stem. This species will probably get the name Amanita subalpina.
