Slide 1.
The Poisonous and Hallucinogenic Mushrooms program was prepared
by Michael Beug for the education committee of the North American Mycological
Association. This program is intended for all people interested in mushrooms
and for physicians dealing with a suspected mushroom poisoning. Many, but
not all, North American poisonous mushrooms and their symptoms are described
in the following program. Because of the length of this program it is best
viewed in two sessions with a break after slide 40.
Physicians treating a suspected mushroom poisoning case are advised
to consult with their regional poison control center for treatment advice
and to contact experienced mushroom identifiers to confirm mushroom identifications,
especially when dealing with mushrooms where the onset of symptoms exceeds
3 hours.
