6:00PM

I sit here next to a lake that reminds me of a desert oasis. The constant song of a bird that I am unfamiliar with. There must be hundreds of them in this pond/lake. The specie is mostly black with stripes on winds and tail(maybe?). Some of the birds have vibrant orange chest and head. The others have black heads. I’ve been observing the black heads gather sticks for their nests. The song that is sung about 20 every 10 seconds. This lake is truly amazing.  Me and Brandy had a refreshing swim. Today we walked 8 miles. We are somewhere in between Ewan and Marengo.  I suspect Marengo to be within two miles to the west. Brandy took the day off. Her condition was extremely sluggish this morning. She seems happy and full of energy now. Tomorrow Brandy is going to sport her new booties for the first time.

The area we walked today was pretty desolate.  Didn’t see many signs of civilization. The farther we walk west, the less farming their is. Most of the trail was atop a manmade ridge that delivered spectacular views. We encountered a group of deer and scared them off the trail. I noticed the first of the group jump over the barbed wire, while the rest of the group ducked under. I speculate the first to be the dominant male.

The temperature was cooler today. I wore shirt sleeves despite the nip. It felt good on my sunburn. Well tomorrow we get to Ritzville and then our day off!

Peace for today.
