Location: 11T0426486/5212694; 1600 ft
Temperature and Weather:
67 degrees, partly-mostly cloudy, sun is out, cumulous clouds
Habitat:
Grassland/Steppe; first sagebrush spotted; much mullen, Russian thistle, balsam root, and lupin which hasn’t bloomed yet, large clumps of tall thick grass - possibly native bunch grass. To the South is a grove of cottonwood (??) trees - looks like big aspen - cottonwood - poplar mix, unsure of kind. Rocky outcroppings and plateaus all around. Wheat fields far to the south. Rugged and empty landscape; no other trees; very large black beetles on trail-shiny and plain; also small blue butterflies. Thought to have spotted a black widow - didn’t get a good look at it.
