Day 3

It rained last night! Wind collapsed the vestibule and tore the stakes out of the ground and threw them to the other side of the tent. What a wind! It was really cool. I love camping in the rain. We had a pretty intense day. It was raining when we broke camp, but didn’t rain the rest of the day. Everyone was in very good spirits the entire day. Stopped at mile 5.5 at Rosalia, and had lunch. Many people stared at us. Two kids (who were skipping school) were observing us from a distance and followed us to the park shouting "peace and love" at us. I guess we look like hippies.

Approximately 13 miles hiked today and I am extremely tired. Cody’s feet hurt intensely today, and Scott’s blister is still giving him problems. Too tired to write now. Will write more tomorrow. Had mac and alfredo for dinner tonight. It was very filling. As we were setting up the tents, we could hear a pack of coyotes howling in the distance. We are camping at the intersection of Squaw Road and the trail. The hike today was pretty cool. Instead of the usual wheat fields we hiked through Ponderosa Pine forests and some interesting rock formations.

Brandy got two ticks on herself today.
