Day 5

Rose up early this morning. We had a little rain last night, but nothing compared to the last few nights. We were on the road by 9:15, after a breakfast of granola and English muffins. Brandy sat the day out in Mo’s car. Shortly after walking, Cody and I saw two black Angus cows doin’ it.

Today we definitely in a different ecosystem. We have moved on from wheat country to gorge country. The views today were spectacular. We spent most of the day following the rock river gorge. The weather held all day, with a steady flow of cumulus clouds coming at us from the west. It was a spectacular sunset. Cody and I hunted for frogs. There was one practically croaking in our ears but we couldn’t see it. Chris, Cody and I washed our hair in a small lake by our campsite. It was in the middle of a cow pasture and had a lot of bird activity, particularly the yellow-headed blackbirds, which were all mating, Washing my hair felt so good!
