After two days off from hiking the six miles we covered today wore me out. We are about 10 miles
east of Beverly and the Columbia River. We hiked next to Saddle Mountain and passed Hanford
Waste Facility. I would like to discuss Hanford thoroughly but not tonight because I'm lacking
energy. I spent the last three hours picking ticks off of Brandy. I lost count after ten. Man it
really sucks! I'm getting good at removing them never the less. I think I've lost my fear of this
insect after this trip. So far I've encountered at
least three varieties. Anyhow we found camp at
a or on a floodplain next to Crab Creek (which we have been paralleling today.) Excellent
sight except for the mosquitos. This area is a wetland and the mating calls of
frogs can be heard
in the distance. Well tomorrow we arrive in Beverly and the Columbia River
which marks the
midway point of our trek across the state. So far so good for the most
part. It's bed time.
