The temperature is about 65 degrees at 1600 feet.

It's really sunny out today so I loaded up on sunscreen.  It's much the same as it was on 5/5 - very flat farmland and grazing land with lots of dry brush.  Last nights sky was amazing - you could see stars all the way to the horizon line in a perfect dome.  The ground is clumped, uplifted, and very dry.  When we put the tent down it was lumped and kinda crunchy if that helps to clarify.  No wildlife except for the sparrows and redwinged blackbird.

The temperature is about 75 degrees.  The elevation is 1571 feet - the survey point said 1579ft.

There are some green hills to the West and North where the farmland is and to the South and East there are small, small rolling hills of desert.

I saw a marmot!!  He was so, so, so cool!  We were all stopped and we heard one really loud beep that sounded like a bird (almost like a large canary when they get scared).  The beeping kept going so I started to look around for the bird that made the noise.  All of a sudden I saw a beaverish-looking thing sticking out of the rocks.  He was looking at me and beeping the "You've entered my territory beep."  He was so, so, so cute!  I wish I could keep him!! :)  He was a Yellow-bellied Marmot.

There are sooo many kinds of shells out here.  Mainly shotgun shells.  Besides guns, horses and cows and an occasional condom I don't see much use of the trail.
