The temperature is about 80 degrees at 1000 feet.
We've entered the military shooting range and we slept next to a water tower that has a huge hole blown it it...cops. So, I think I'll be glad when we leave here. Guess who found me this morning - the little lizard guy Cody found yesterday. I think maybe I'll take him on the walk today and see how he does - I'll probably lose him along the way but it will be fun.
The ground sucks - I completely demolished a stake trying to get my tent up. It's hard, flattened dirt and gravel.
Even though we're right next to the Columbia River - and Saddle Mountain and Boyleston Mountain - there is still just tons of desert and that's it.

The temperature is about 85 degrees at 1700 feet.
There is a small homestead down below - we must
be getting near some water. We've passed two rattlesnakes today that were
out on the trail (Northern Pacific Rattler). Saw a lot of unusual flowers:
desert primrose, Oregon sunshine, purple sage, and lupin.
