The temperature is about 55 degrees at 2300 feet.

A few scattered deciduous trees (aspen?) and some shrubs and willow.  Lots and lots more desert and the firing range...

The temperature is about 75 degrees at 1900 feet.

Very windy which makes the heat nice.  I think right here is a little oasis from the drone of the desert.  It is a lot greener.  I'm sure it's from the stream and from the surrounding property being used as farmland.

We went through a tunnel today that was really cool!  That two mile tunnel will be so much fun!  I wonder when we do that?  It was kinda scary too.  Chris and me and Brandy went through first and we must have startled an owl 'cause one came flying out at Peter and Cody right before they went in.

We took a long, long siesta under an overpass of I-90.  I visited three horses there - but they weren't too friendly.  Then it was on to Kittitas.  What a long, long day.  I think it was 12-14 miles.  It was super, super, super windy into Kittitas.  When we got there all the locals were all curious about us - and they let us sleep in front of the public library.  It was weird having 4 REI tents pitched in front of this small towns library.

The people there were super friendly - as are most people out here.  It's so refreshing being away from media hype that makes the world sound like a horrible place.  When you actually get out there - people can amaze you - and I think especially in these smaller towns.
