Habitat:

Forests of many kinds of evergreen trees-western red cedar, douglas fir, western hemlock, silver pine and others.  Some cottonwood and alder.  Many           streams from snow melt, some small patches of snow in shady areas, lots of deer prints - some very large, possibly elk:  Lots of yellow violets and white           trillium flowers in bloom.  Skunk cabbage in ponds.  Found a tiny green tree frog in a small clearing.  Some new wetlands in logged areas - very large           mosquito population.  Also seeing slugs now.

150 miles

Location: 10T0621611/5246030, 2500 ft

Temperature and Weather:

          64 degrees, sunny, mostly cloudy

Habitat:

Not really changed-lots of snow melt runoff, clear cuts to the south.  Snow just melted.  All ground is flattened down with some new plants coming up -           trillium mostly.  Also another small plant with three leave.  These are in groups all over.  We are on the edge of a very large manmade lake - lots of dead           stumps on shore, deep water.  Found another green tree frog - very small again.  Been walking along a rocky slope with small conifers growing on it.  Much           more moisture in air. Most wild strawberries here aren't blooming yet.
