I
was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I can define myself with the same words that Cortázar
used to describe his character in Hopscotch: "He was middle class,
from Buenos Aires, had been to an Argentinean school, and those things
are not dismissed lightly. The worst of it was that by dint of avoiding
excessively local points of view he had ended up weighing and accepting
too readily the yes and no of everything, becoming a sort of inspector
of scales. In Paris everything was Buenos Aires, and vice versa..." In
my case, you need to replace Paris with Tokyo, Santa Barbara, and Olympia,
where I have been living, loving, working and missing my country for the
last twelve years.
I prefer Spanish to English, literature to mathematics, summer to winter and a peaceful afternoon with the company of a good book to a noisy party. I enjoy having interesting conversations with friends and taking long walks.
My three children are my opera magna. They give me the strength to keep learning and dreaming of the future.
