Performer
Ratna
has performed in several countries, including India, North America, Great
Britain, the Baltics, Indonesia, Singapore, China, Japan, the Philippines,
and South Africa. She performed and conducted a workshop at the NGO Forum
of the UN Conference on Women in China in 1995 and toured the Kansai area
in
Japan with a Japanese company, Lasenkan, in 1996. She
was invited by the Philippine Educational Theatre Association ( PETA) to
conduct
a two-week workshop in the Philippines in April 1998.
She gave workshops at Nrityagram,
Bangalore, India (May 2000).
Ratna also performed all five of the Pancha Kanya dances at Bharatyam Cultural
Complex in Kolkata, India, on December 27, 2003, sponsored by the Eastern
Zonal Cultural Centre. In June 2004, she was invited to perform at the
prestigious Habitat Centre in New Delhi as one of the foremost exponents
of Guru Pankaj Charan Das' Mahari style of Orissi dance. In addition to
her work
teaching at The Evergreen State College, Ratna has her own dance company,
Urvasi, made up of her most advanced dancers. Dancers, trained
by
Ratna, now perform in the United States, Canada, Japan, and India.
